General

Orders and deliveries

  • What is the delivery time for physical books?
    The Netherlands: 1 to 3 working days
    European Union: 12 working days
    Rest of the world: 21 working days

    The delivery time for some books may be slightly longer. This will be stated on your order.

    International delivery times vary from country to country and depend not only on the distance to the destination, but also on how long it takes the packages to be cleared and released by Customs in the destination country. However, delivery within the European Union generally occurs within approximately 12 business days after shipping and orders in the rest of the world usually arrive within 21 business days.

    If your order is being shipped outside the Netherlands, please be ready to pay your import fees directly to the carrier (FedEx) at the time of delivery to avoid any delivery delays. If you have not received your product within the delivery time as stated above, please contact us via klantenservice@boomdenhaag.nl.
  • What is the delivery time for electronic products?
    Electronic products are always delivered immediately. If this is not the case, then please contact us via klantenservice@boomdenhaag.nl. We will attend to the issue as soon as possible.
  • How much is the postage?

    In the Netherlands you pay no shipping costs for orders over € 50.00. For orders of less than 50 euros, the shipping costs are € 2.95.

    Outside the Netherlands, postage is determined according to the weight of your order.

  • Import or customs duties
    In non-EU countries, import or customs duties may be levied when the order arrives in the country of destination. These charges are for your account as the customer; the charges may vary from country to country. The customs authorities at the destination country calculate the amount owed. If you would like to know how much these duties are, please contact the customs services in the country in question.

Payment

  • What are the payment options?
    The Netherlands: iDEAL, Visa, PayPal, Maestro, MasterCard and (digital) invoice (€ 3 extra for administration costs). European Union and rest of the world: Pro forma invoice, Visa, PayPal, Maestro and MasterCard. Out-of-stock books and subscription products may only be settled using a (digital) invoice. E-books and databases can only be paid for via iDEAL, Visa, PayPal, Maestro and MasterCard.
  • When will I receive my invoice?
    When you place an order on invoice, you will receive the (digital) invoice after your order has been shipped. The invoice is therefore not included with your order.
  • I have a question about my invoice, the amount invoiced, or want to submit a change or invoice reference.
    For questions about your invoice please contact customer service: klantenservice@boomdenhaag.nl. Provide your invoice number. Do you not have an invoice number? Then provide us with your billing address details and the ordered product or subscription.

Returns

  • Can I return products?
    With the exception of electronic books and subscriptions, you may return Boom uitgevers Den Haag products within 14 days of receipt (right of withdrawal) without having to give reasons. Postage for returning products is for the customer’s account. The withdrawal period lapses 14 days after the day:
    - on which the article is in your possession;
    - if there are several articles in one order that are delivered separately, then after the day on which you received the last article.

    You can exercise your right of withdrawal by contacting klantenservice@boomdenhaag.nl for a returns form. Please state the invoice number, the title, the ISBN and the number of copies that you would like to return. If you have created an account, you will find the return form there under 'Orders and products'. You may only return the article if the article is complete, is in its original condition and in the producer’s packaging, insofar as this can reasonably be expected. Exercising your right of withdrawal does not negate any payment obligation that you may have. You will still have to pay within the stipulated period. If you have paid for the order in advance via iDEAL, we will deposit this credit amount as soon as possible. The amount will be in your account within a few days, and in any event within 30 days of processing the return.

    If you placed the order via another bookshop or webshop, then you will have to process the return through this bookshop.
  • I have returned my order. When can I expect to get my money back?
    Once we have received and accepted the return shipment, we will deposit the amount into your account as soon as possible. The amount will be in your account within a few days, and in any event within 30 days of processing the return.

E-books

  • How can I order an e-book?
    You can order an e-book just as easily and quickly as a physical book. After payment, we will send you a download link by e-mail, which you can use to download the e-book.
  • Which e-books formats can I buy from Boom uitgevers Den Haag?
    The Boom Basics series can be bought in EPUB 3.0 format; all other publications are only available in EPDF format. E-books ordered via our website are protected by watermarks.
  • What is watermark protection?
    E-books ordered via our website are protected by watermarks. The electronic watermark contains your personal details, both visibly and hidden. We always report abuse to the Stichting Brein (the Dutch association for the protection of artists’ rights).
  • The file name extension of an e-book is either .epub or .pdf. What are EPUB and EPDF?
    EPUB or EPDF is a file format that can be read on most e-readers, tablets and smartphones. If it is in EPUB format, the text in the file is automatically adjusted to suit the screen size of the device on which you are reading the book. If it is in EPDF format, the page size is automatically adjusted to suit the screen size.
  • How can I read an e-book on my PC?
    You can open an EPUB on your PC using one of the following programmes:
    - Adobe Digital Editions
    - Calibre e-book management
    - iBooks - Mobipocket eBook Reader
    - Kindle for PC - Sony Reader Library
    - Sigil

    You can open an EPDF file on your PC using Adobe Acrobat Reader (available free of charge) or on your Mac using the Preview function.
  • Is it also possible for me to print out an e-book?
    No, e-books are protected by watermarks and cannot be printed out. Copying pieces of text is also not allowed.

Comments and complaints

Subscriptions

  • I no longer have online access to my subscription.
    You can request a new password at any time via the login page of your subscription product with the e-mail address known to us.

    For other questions about online access to your subscription, please contact customer service: klantenservice@boomdenhaag.nl. Provide your subscription number, the name of the subscriber and the email address for this subscription. Your subscription number always starts with the letters ABO, followed by a number of digits. Do you not have this information? Then provide your address details and the name of the subscriber.
  • I want to report a change of address for my subscription.
    Address changes must be notified to us in writing (by e-mail or letter). You can send your change of address to our customer service: klantenservice@boomdenhaag.nl. We will adjust the address for you in our administration. 
  • I want to cancel my subscription.
    An annual subscription can be canceled up to one month before the end of the subscription period. In the event of late cancellation, the subscription will automatically be extended by one year. Cancellations must be communicated to us in writing (by email or letter). You can send your cancellation to klantenservice@boomdenhaag.nl.

Online books - Boom Streamr

  • How do I access my book?
    After buying the online book, you will receive an email with information on how to easily view your book via our online platform.
  • How long will I have access?
    You will have access for 18 months.
  • Can I download the online book?
    It is only possible to view the book online via the PDF-viewer. It is NOT possible to download the book.
  • Can I print the online book?
    It is possible to print a maximum of 10 pages.
  • Can I return an online book?
    An online book is a digital product and is therefore not eligible for return.
  • Which books are available as an online book?

  • How do I order a book?
    You can order a Boom Streamr book via a tab marked 'Online' beside the book in our web shop. By clicking on this, you can buy the book and you will receive an email with further information on how to easily access your book online.
  • What is Boom Streamr?
    With Boom Streamr, we offer online streaming of all our Eleven textbooks. Not only is this convenient for use in the many available international university curriculums, buying a book via Boom Streamr is also 30% cheaper than hard copy, and it’s environmentally friendly!
